Chapter XV For the sake of justice
Lucien dizzily and painfully lay on the ground looking at the morning's not so blazing sun, as well as the exceptionally clear blue sky, quietly breathing in the fresh air, the pain in his skin and flesh couldn't cover up the surging of Lucien's heart, as well as the solidity and resilience of having a real goal to strive for.
Once the decision to learn magic had been made, Lucien was more cautious and wary of the future, but it was like letting go of a stone that had been weighing down his mind for a long time, with a pleasurable relief.
"This is really a strange, complicated and perverted mental activity." Lucien, who had experienced more in just a few days than in the past twenty years, seemed to have matured at once, burying the anger and powerlessness he had just felt in his mind, and smiled to himself, "Perhaps, from the very beginning, I had longed to learn magic, master transcendent power, and obtain a better life and a higher status, and the events of these few days were merely helping me to make up my mind. "
Alyssa ran to Lucien's side and helped him up, "Little Evans, is it alright?"
Lucien tried to move his arms and legs and body, grimacing in pain, "It's fine Aunt Alisa, they didn't try to kill me, just some minor injuries."
Alisa then put her heart down and cursed, "Those damned scoundrels, rogues who disregarded the laws of the Archduke, will surely be hanged, will surely go to hell."
While cursing the Aaron gangsters, Alisa helped Lucien to sit down in her house, took water to clean the blood stains on his face, and used clean linen material to help stop the bleeding.
After doing all this, only then did Alisa insert her waist and look at Lucien, intending to ask what exactly happened, but before asking, she suddenly thought of another thing and said to Lucien with a pleading look: ''Today is Monday, Little John will come back in the afternoon, so you mustn't tell him about this matter. Little Evans, as you know, has an extraordinary fondness for chivalry and the code, and you are his good friend, so if he knows about it, he will probably go to the Aaron's Mob to get into trouble, and once the matter becomes a big deal, he might be expelled by Sir Vine."
As a pauper, Alyssa was used to putting her side in a weak position.
"Of course, it's not like I've made a big deal, I'll hide it from John, hiss." Although Lucien was powerless now, he believed that he would be able to get justice later and make the gangsters get their applied downfall, so he agreed with an unconcerned smile, and ended up pulling the corner of his broken mouth.
Great Aunt Elisa nodded with tears in her eyes, "Little Evans, you're really good."
"What are you guys planning to hide from me?" Suddenly, John's magnetic voice rang out, still in his gray knight's clothing, he had stood in the doorway at some point.
Great Aunt Elisa panicked, "No, nothing at all, Little John you came back early?"
John walked into the house with his slender legs and smiled bitterly, "His Majesty the Grand Duke summoned Sir Vien, so I followed him back to Alto, mother, don't tell such a poor lie, I am an adult, a formal knight squire, I have followed Sir Vien to learn and experience a lot of things, and I am no longer the naïve child I used to be, don't worry that I will be reckless. "
Finished to Alisa, John smiled and looked at Lucien, clapped his hands together and said in a gentle and calm manner, "The way you look now, you are much worse than when we used to get beaten up together, well, tell me what happened. Well, I think many of the neighbors outside should have seen what just happened."
Lucien turned his head to look at Great Aunt Elisa and saw her nodding dejectedly, then he told the matter as it was, and at this moment, from John, Lucien surprisingly felt a kind of oppressive force that only Gary, Correia and others had given themselves.
Hearing the latter, John revealed an angry expression, but did not lose his mind, and quickly calmed down and let out a laugh: ''It seems that Lucien you really want to learn words. But your mind is really the best amongst us, to be able to think of looking for valuable trash."
Seeing that John wasn't angry and full of chivalry to go after the Aaron's Mob, Great Aunt Alyssa breathed a long sigh of relief, "Little Evans, you're best when you have your own ideas and endeavors."
John twisted his body and loosened his shoulders, then walked over to the kitchen a few paces away and found a sturdy, long-sword-like stick, then said to Lucien, "I didn't think I'd ever use the one I used to work out with."
Then he turned his head, "Mom, I'm going out for a bit."
"Little John ......," Alisa cried out in agony, "You'll be exorcized by Sir Vine if you do that."
Lucian was busy, "John, it's okay, I'm just a little hurt."
John shook his head, "After becoming Sir Vine's official squire, he often taught us to abide by the code of chivalry, carry forward the spirit of chivalry, defy the strong, protect the weak, guard our homes, and raise the banner of justice and truth, other companions may not care much about it, but I feel that this is the path that I'm willing to believe in for the rest of my life."
"Lucien is my good friend, the weak and poor, the Aaron's Mob is evil made up of thugs and rogues, if I don't stand up for myself and go against the code in my heart, then even if I'm not exorcized by Sir Vayne, such a chagrin will haunt my mind, so that I'll never be able to stimulate the power of the bloodline within my body, and besides, I'm sure that Sir Vayne will approve of my actions. "
"But, Little John ......" said Great Aunt Elisa, still reluctant for John to leave, with a mournful look on her face.
John laughed gently and hugged Alisa, "Lucien just got beaten up and robbed something, so I won't do anything beyond the limit, I won't make a big deal out of it, mom, trust me, you see, I just took the wooden stick."
Such reassurance, and the convincing power that came with John's official Knight Squire status, finally made Alisa agree, and she nodded her head with difficulty, "Little John, you must be careful."
"It is they who should be careful. Lucien, wait for the good news." John gripped the stick, smiled confidently, and was about to head for the door.
"Wait." Lucien's voice suddenly rang out.
John looked back at him strangely, "What? Lucien."
Lucien stood up, John's behavior touched him and a hot blood seemed to boil in his heart, smiling, "Together."
Although because of the ragged corner of his mouth made Lucien's smile look funny, John still saw Lucien's firmness and did not refuse, haha laughed, "No problem, just like when I was a kid, eh, there's still a stick in the kitchen."
Lucien found out the wooden stick and carried it in his hand, and when he passed by Great Aunt Elisa, he whispered a reassuring sentence, "I'll keep an eye on John, I won't let him mess around."

Jackson and the others only left not long ago, John and Lucien easily know their whereabouts from the neighbors, passers-by.
As they followed closely, John suddenly spoke, "Lucien, do you believe in justice?" The voice seemed a bit confused.
"Um, believe, why?" Lucien didn't know why John asked that, and answered carefully out of habit.
John spoke while hurrying, "I also believe in justice, but I understand that I am not as noble and fearless as I just said, if you were not my good friend, I am afraid that I would not adhere to the spirit of chivalry, and then hold up the banner of justice against the Aaron gangsters. I would be in the habit of weighing my own strength, and shrinking from advancing as soon as I found that there was a great probability of a threat to my life and future, unless it was a matter of great importance to my family and friends, and, perhaps, justice would be but a slogan to me."
"I do not think so, every Knight has their own highest priority to guard, some are fairness, some are loyalty, some are fearlessness, some are mercy, and you have chosen home. Only by choosing what to guard can you speak of justice, otherwise justice is a groundless, insubstantial, nebulous symbol without any substance."
It was only at this time that Lucien felt that John was still a somewhat youthful young man, just like himself, while flipping through a literature in his head that spoke of chivalry, organizing words to placate and bluff him.
After a few days of getting used to it, Lucian had become more and more adept at opening the library and found it easy to look up the information he needed as he thought about it.
John was still a little confused, "Is that so?"
"Of course, if it were somewhat possible to do so with your strength, would you defy the odds, protect the weak, and uphold justice?" Lucien asked rhetorically.
John nodded firmly, "Will."
"So, John you still stick to the knight of justice, after all, doing things that have no possibility of being done, that's not called upholding justice, it's called sending to death, or recklessness, what's needed at this time is to think of other ways, to take other paths to accomplish it, unless you've got no way back." Lucian realized that he was rather suited to the psychological mentorship.
John thought about it and seemed to have let go of something, he laughed, "Every time I asked Sir Vine about this, he always said that I had encountered too few things, and that there was no way to figure out the key just by thinking in the air, now it seems like the events of the past few days have allowed you to mature a lot, Lucien, and that makes a lot of sense, eh, but, I still yearn for that kind of true justice. "
"Sir Vien once told us the story of a legendary knight's longsword, it was plain and white after fusing the power of divine magic, it had no magnificent light, no various colors displayed by the power of divine magic, it was not inlaid with precious stones and pearls, even the handguard was made of ordinary wood, it did not have any difference with the longsword worn by ordinary soldiers, and it wasn't seen by most of the nobles who regarded themselves as noble and the knights to give it more than a passing glance."
"But it was actually surprisingly powerful, especially when it came to fighting evil, but what impressed me the most were the words on the longsword: 'Justice is inherently inferior and pale compared to vanity and futile power, but justice applies to everyone, rich or poor, high or low, regardless of knowledge. Justice is everywhere, whether in the farmer's field or on the fierce battlefield.'"
"These words echo in my heart at all times."
"This longsword is called 'Pale Justice', but unfortunately it disappeared into the Dark Mountains along with a powerful Sky Knight."
John's expression became filled with longing and slight excitement, his confusion retreating to an unseen corner.
Lucien saw this look on his face and joked, "Then our slogan for today is, 'For Justice!'"
"Haha, for justice!" John waved the wooden stick.
The two laughed, except Lucian inwardly silently stated that he definitely wasn't trying to say no cavities.
A few minutes later, the two saw Jackson, who was walking down the wide Market District street, with a dozen or so mob hitmen, including Andre, still following.
