Chapter 11 - Twelve Tiger Forms

Aside from having farm work to do in the fields, Zhou Yi Mu also had to look for the so-called life preserver for Zhou Fan, and he and Gui Feng soon left the house to go about their busy lives. Zhou Fan was the only one left in the house, he didn't go and do anything, instead he stayed at home and thought about all the things that happened yesterday and today, there were just too many things that happened in the past two days, to the point that he was even put in danger twice. The problem of patrolling after five days, the only four years of life left ...... these were all realities that Zhou Fan had to face. Zhou Fan was thinking of solutions, but helplessly he knew too little about this world, for the time being everything could only be done with the help of others. To the evening, Zhou Yi Mu couple back, the family ate dinner, Zhou Yi Mu took out a paper lantern, and on one side of the lantern with a small lamp charm, before handing it over to Zhou Fan. In theory, Zhou Fan was already considered completely well, and that Yin Ghost shouldn't come back, but it was still necessary to take precautions. Zhou Fan carried the lantern and went to Lu Kui's house alone before it was completely dark. Lu Kui's family was having dinner, so Zhou Fan gave a greeting and stood outside the door waiting. Lu Kui greeted Zhou Fan with a meal, but Zhou Fan just smiled and said that he had already eaten at home. Lu Kui didn't say anything more. Zhou Fan waited for about a quarter of an hour for Lu Kui's family to finish eating before he walked in. With a wave of his hand, Lu Kui drove his wife and two seven or eight year old sons and daughters back to their room. Under the illumination of the oil lamps in the hall, the light was still somewhat dim. The figure behind Lu Kui was elongated and fell to the ground, he smiled at Zhou Fan and said, "The environment is a bit harsh, Ah Fan, you can just make do, by the way, Ah Fan, do you recognize the characters?" Zhou Fan frowned slightly, about this question he didn't know how to answer, as far as he observed, it seemed like Sanqiu Village didn't have a private school either, so the predecessor shouldn't have recognized the words right, but why did Lu Kui ask this? "What? Don't recognize it?" Lu Kui scratched his head, "I remember that those of your age seem to have read with the village's Lin Shusheng." Lin Shusheng? So the predecessor had also read books. When Zhou Fan heard Lu Kui say this, he quickly nodded his head and said, "I recognize some, but I may not recognize words that are too complicated." "That's great, you wait." Lu Kui said and turned around and walked into the room, soon he walked out again with a red wooden box. The wooden box was very simple and had no patterns, but Lu Kui had a precious look on his face, he opened the wooden box and inside was a black leather booklet. Lu Kui picked up the booklet and handed it to Zhou Fan, "Take a look and see how much you can understand?" Zhou Fan took the booklet and opened the first page, he looked at the font and realized that it was similar to the official script before he was completely relieved, if it was the small seal script, then he could not understand it at all. The official script was very similar to modern traditional Chinese characters, so Zhou Fan could still understand it. The content on the booklet was very rich, apart from the detailed text there was also a human movement pattern. It was a secret book of gongfu called the Twelve Tiger Forms, but it was noted in small fly-head characters at the beginning that it was a copy. Zhou Fan was looking at it attentively, and Lu Kui did not urge him on, but waited patiently. When Zhou Fan raised his head and stopped looking at the book, Lu Kui hurriedly asked, "Finished reading? How much did you understand?" Zhou Fan thought for a moment and said, "I recognize all the words in it, but I don't understand much about those meridians and acupuncture points and whatnot." "Awesome." Lu Kui gave a thumbs up, "I didn't expect you to recognize so many words, Ah Fan, as for the meridian points I'll teach you, you can read and understand them, it'll do you a lot of good." "It's a pity, that Lin Shusheng died two years ago, or else I could have let those two children of my family go over and recognize some words with him, recognizing some words is still quite beneficial." Lu Kui said with some regret. "Captain Lu, why did you say that me being able to read it would be of great benefit to me?" Zhou Fan glanced at the secret book of feats with some puzzlement. "At home, it's fine if you call me Big Brother Lu, although I call your father Big Brother Zhou, I'm actually not that old, we'll talk about each other." Lu Kui smiled and said, "As for what benefits you say there are? The benefit is that you read the words, then you are on the most correct path." "The most correct path?" "This Twelve Styles of Tiger Form is a method of practicing power that was passed down from Tian Liang Li, we generally call it a martial artist's power segment, if once you really get started, then your power will soar." Lu Kui explained, "However, because we don't recognize the characters, there are some discrepancies in practicing the Twelve Styles of Tiger Form, some people's strength doesn't grow fast after practicing because he may not practice certain passages correctly." The Tianliangli that Lu Kui spoke of governed eighteen villages including Sanqiu Village. "Can you get started even if you practiced wrongly and won't go off the deep end?" Zhou Fan said in consternation. Lu Kui gave a light eep and said, "Where did you hear about going off the deep end?" Zhou Fan froze for a moment, could it be that the gong methods in this world do not have the expression of going into a fire, but as he looked at Lu Kui's skeptical eyes, he hurriedly smiled and said, "It seems that I heard it from listening to some stories from Scholar Lin, but I fell to my brain, and I don't really remember if it was him who said it, I just vaguely remember that there is this word." "I've also heard people say that when practicing kung fu goes off the rails, but that should be nonsense." Lu Kui shook his head, "If you practiced the Twelve Styles of Tiger Form you would understand that this thing has nothing to do with your brain, it only hammers your body, how could this go off the rails?" Zhou Fan nodded his head repeatedly as he listened, he understood somewhat, that is to say, the Twelve Styles of Tiger Shape was a method of hammering the physical body, no matter how you practiced it, you would be fine, the only difference was just the size of the strength gained. "As long as it is practiced most correctly, if your physical quality is not too bad, then the strength gained should be much more than that of a normal person." Lu Kui said rather enviously, "Unfortunately I'm already used to the previous movements, changing them hastily will do more harm than good." "So that's how it is." Zhou Fan said with a joyful face. "You first read the first four styles inside the familiarization book." Lu Kui said with a serious face, "Since my movements may not be standardized, the best way is for you to practice by yourself according to the book, and if you don't understand any acupoints, meridians or the like, you can ask me, this is much better than me teaching you blindly." "Why the first four stances?" Zhou Fan asked while reading the book, "Is Brother Lu afraid that I'll be greedy and chew too much?" "It's not like what you said, that's because the first four stances of the Twelve Styles of Tiger Form are known as the Four Styles of Awakening, it's a threshold, if you can draw qi into your body and quench your body through these four stances, that's the beginning of the gate, if you can't, you'll just be standing outside the door of the martial arts path for eternity." Lu Kui stretched his back and softly answered Zhou Fan's questions, which were not in the book. "Is it hard to get started?" Zhou Fan asked as he looked at the book with two minds. "Martial arts is also about talent, if the talent is good, and study hard, like me when I spent a month to get started, the captain who taught me straight boasted that my talent was the top three he had ever seen, if the talent is not good, then the whole life may not be able to get started, and now there are only three people in the Sanqiu Village Patrol who have crossed this threshold."
