Chapter 13 Fog
The monster in the snow-colored jade disk had a large head and a small body, its head was like a swollen fist, with a pair of golden convex pupils at the front end of the fist, its tail was like a fish's tail, and its body was covered with gray scales.
The fist-shaped head opened a mouth, which was full of stern and sharp bone spikes.
The gray-clothed old man's face was indifferent, he casually placed the fishing rod on the edge of the table, and his right hand had a gray fog coalescing, transforming into a sharp knife.
The old man's right wrist slightly shaking, dazzling knife light enveloped the white jade disk, snorting sound after, the monster has been cut into hundreds of thin slices of meat.
The sharp knife misted and transformed into a pair of chopsticks again, when the old man clamped a thin slice, ten or so flavor plates suddenly appeared on the table, or maybe the flavor plates had always been there, just that Zhou Fan could not see them.
The thin slice held by the chopsticks was placed on one of the flavor plates and dipped into the seasoning and then thrown into his mouth, he squinted his eyes and slowly chewed, the old lines on his face followed and wrinkled.
The weird thing was that the gray-clothed old man did not even glance at Zhou Fan from start to finish, as if Zhou Fan did not exist.
Zhou Fan raised his eyebrows slightly as he walked towards this old man, but in his heart, he was thinking that this old man had suddenly appeared and was able to make food out of that monster with means he couldn't imagine.
If he wanted to kill him, he would definitely not be able to escape, so he could simply walk over by himself and see if he could try to find out what this old man's origin was.
The most important thing was to figure out for what reason he had appeared in this strange space, on this ship.
As Zhou Fan was walking towards the old man, he was still constantly observing him with his own habits, he realized that this old man was truly indifferent to his existence, his mind was all on the food in the porcelain plate.
The gray-clothed old man's pair of chopsticks kept picking up the transparently thin slices, dipping them in the seasoning and slowly eating them, even when Zhou Fan walked to his side, he did not raise his eyes.
Zhou Fan stood to the side and waited patiently, he didn't know what kind of character this person had, then he couldn't open his mouth first, but waited for the other party to open his mouth first.
If the other party never opened his mouth, then he decided to wait for the old man to finish his meal before opening his mouth.
It was always better for a person to talk when they were well-fed and well-drunk than when they were hungry.
The different flavor plates contained different seasonings, including soy sauce, chili peppers, minced ginger, and mashed radish ...... more seasonings that Zhou Fan could not recognize.
The old man sometimes dipped into only one kind of seasoning, sometimes dipped into a mixture of two or three, and every time the food entered his mouth, he would always squint slightly.
The old man ate slowly, but the slices of meat on the jade plate quickly bottomed out until there was only one piece left before he looked up at Zhou Fan and asked, "Do you want to eat?"
Only then did Zhou Fan realize that the old man's eye pupils were a dark gray hue, and his gray eyes were like oceanic whirlpools, so deep that he couldn't see the bottom.
Zhou Fan shook his head, for this bizarre piece of creature meat, he kept a cautious mind, the old man was mysterious and unpredictable enough to eat this thing, but it didn't mean Zhou Fan could eat it, in case it contained a high level of toxicity, that would be the end of it.
When the old man saw that Zhou Fan didn't want to eat it, he didn't try to persuade him any further, but he picked up the last piece of meat and dipped it in the ginger and spicy oil and ate it.
After eating, the old man leisurely breathed a sigh of relief and said, "Seeing as you didn't disturb my meal, you can ask me some questions."
"I don't know how the old man is addressed?" Zhou Fan asked with a polite face.
With a wave of the old man's hand, the porcelain plate on the square table turned into gray mist and dispersed before he slowly said, "I originally had no name, you can call me Gray, you can call me Mist, you can call me Blood, or even if you come up with a name for me, it doesn't matter."
No name?
Why would there be no name?
Gray? Mist? Was it a split word derived from Gray Mist?
And blood? Did it come from the ball of blood on top of his head?
Several thoughts flashed through Zhou Fan's mind as he continued with a hint of respect on his face, "So it's Old Mr. Mist, Old Mr. Mist, may I ask what is this place?"
"Just call me directly as Mist, don't add any old sir." Fog sat down, as he sat down, a few wisps of gray fog converged and an extra chair was created, he sat precisely on the chair, "As for what is this place?"
Mist paused for a moment before shaking his head, "I don't know, it shouldn't have a name either, but if you find the lack of a name uncomfortable, you can call it the Gray River Space."
"Gray River Space ......" Zhou Fan recited in his heart, he kept looking at this old man whom he called 'Mist', but unfortunately from beginning to end, the old man's face was always indifferent, it was It was difficult to see anything more.
"Mist, why did I appear here?" Zhou Fan asked the one question he was most concerned about, and he heeded the advice and changed his name.
Zhou Fan understood that the other party had said this, so it would be more appropriate to address him directly.
"How would I know?" Misty sneered and said, "It's not like I made you people appear here."
"Us?" Zhou Fan keenly captured the keyword in Fog's mouth, which indicated that he was definitely not the first person to appear on this ship.
"Alright, you've asked enough questions too." Fog showed a hint of impatience, "You are the one who boarded the ship this time, so there are some things I need to say to you."
Zhou Fan didn't say anything, just listening silently.
"You can only do three things on this ship, the first is fishing." Mist casually waved his hand, a thin gray mist rolled around, and seven fishing rods suddenly appeared on the square wooden table.
The seven fishing rods were of different colors, ink black, light purple, emerald green, fiery red, golden yellow, silver white, and dark gray.
"The second thing is to jump off the boat, the third thing is to stay and do nothing, and when the time is up, you'll be able to return to your world." Misty looked to Zhou Fan and asked, "Now you want to fish?"
"Why do you want me to fish?" Zhou Fan asked back with a frown.
"It's not that I want you to fish, but only if you want to." A wry smile appeared on Misty's face, "Fishing or not is your choice, since you're on this boat, I won't force you to do anything."
Zhou Fan asked, "So what happens if you fish?"
"There is always a balance here, fishing you will gain something and lose something." Mist slowly said, "But the first time you fish well, it's kind of a free gift, well, you can't say it's free, after all, you've already paid the price in advance for being able to come in here."
"What things will be gained? And what will be lost?" Zhou Fan's heart skipped a beat as he asked, "What is it that I lost by coming in here?"
"These three questions are too complicated for me to answer, if you want to know, figure it out yourself." Misty said shaking her head.
"Is it my lifespan that I lost when I came in here?" Zhou Fan suddenly opened his mouth and asked, he still had a few years of life left or it was related to this place.
Misty's gray eyes looked at Zhou Fan with some surprise, he laughed, "I'll let you guess, it's the lifespan, you paid a large amount of lifespan to board this ship!"
"It's really because of this!" Zhou Fan face coldly said, "Then is there any way to return my lifespan back, it's okay to get off the ship."
A ghost would want to board this weird ship, if he could get his life expectancy back, Zhou Fan would definitely not want to stay here.
Misty's face was calm as she said, "There is no way to get your lifespan back, at least I can't do it for you, you can only jump off the ship if you want to, that's the second thing I said."
"What would happen to me if I jumped off the boat?" Zhou Fan asked as he looked towards the parapet at the side of the ship.
"I don't know." Misty looked at the foggy river and smiled, "There were several people who jumped off the boat, but I never saw them again afterward, so I don't know what would happen?"
I don't know ......
Zhou Fan's face changed slightly, he remembered the black shadows swimming at the bottom of this smooth, realm-like river, jumping ship was definitely not a good choice!
Zhou Fan wanted to ask again, only the fog suddenly said, "Your time is up, so I'll see you next time, but don't die oh, once you die, you'll never be able to meet again."
For a moment the sky spun, Zhou Fan shook his head, and when he opened his eyes again, he was back in the real world.
