Chapter 6 The Dawn of the Empire

While Zhang Jing left, Qianye left the classroom with an extra literacy textbook in his hands. In the next month, he had to memorize a thousand commonly used characters before he could pass Zhang Jing's exam. And the consequence of failing the exam was to be beaten with ten whole lashes! Now, Qianye realized that in the Yellow Springs Training Camp, the whip was the only common hobby of all the instructors. But the next training course didn't slow down because the children needed to recognize words, the amount and duration of training didn't change at all. When he returned to his dormitory late at night, Chiyo was equally tired as if he was about to fall apart. He fell asleep as soon as he got into bed, and it wasn't until he was woken up by the ear-piercing bell the next morning that he remembered he hadn't memorized a single word! There were obviously not a few kids who were like Chiyo. So by the end of the second night's training, the vast majority of the kids were bracing themselves to stay awake, desperately trying to memorize a single heavenly word. When Qianye barely memorized the fiftieth word, he finally couldn't support himself and fell headfirst onto the bed before falling asleep. Just like this time flew by, a month seemed to run out in the blink of an eye. Qianye waited for Zhang Jing's second class. Before the class was an exam. During the long hour and a half, Qianye wrote down fifteen hundred words, and these were the results of his month. Out of all the kids, Qianye's results ranked fifth. The first four were all children of families who had been reading and recognizing words since they were young. Among the children who had never recognized words before, Qianye was first without a doubt. After him, there were three other children of the prestigious families who had also recognized words since they were young. In total, there were eleven people who failed Zhang Jing's exam. "Now is the time for you to pay the price for belittling my lessons!" This great beauty spoke gently, then actually took the whip herself and lashed down hard on the children who failed to pass the exam, with a force that was even a few points stronger than Long Hai's! Ten whips was an extremely heavy punishment, right in front of Qianye, two children were actually lashed alive with ten whips! Qianye by is aware that this beautiful teacher's hand is even more ruthless than Long Hai! This exam allows Qianye and all the children to firmly remember that literacy and reading are equally important as exercising the body. Zhang Jing called in two burly men and had them drag out the two children who were no longer moving, then without changing her face, she wrote four big words on the blackboard, "Dawn War." When writing these four words, Zhang Jing became rare serious and solemn, even his voice had a heavy flavor: "The Dawn War has been over for one thousand two hundred years ......" The Dawn War took place in the Neverwinter Nights Continent at the bottom of the world, and it was also the place where the Human Race first inhabited and prospered, and grew stronger. In the Dawn War, the Human Race used every power at their disposal; it was the final showdown between the Dawn Force, burning black stones, gushing energy vapors, roaring firearms, huge and crude machinery and the Dark Force! In this great battle of destiny, which lasted for more than a hundred years, the human race, which had awakened to the Force, paid an extremely heavy price, with only one tenth of its pre-war population left, but finally defeated the dark races, got rid of the fate of the slaves, vassals, and domestic animals, expelled the dark races from the Realm of the Neverwinter Nights, and established the first empire dominated by the human race: the Qin. This fateful duel is known as the Dawn War in the history of the Human Race. Because the humans who had been living in the eternal night saw the dawn for the first time after this war. The Force that people first awakened was also defined as the Dawn side. With this war as the dividing line, the two camps of eternal night and dawn were officially formed. The Dawn War was not the end, but the beginning. Over the course of twelve hundred years, the human race captured four new continents in the lower and middle levels of the world one after another, and began to look up to the upper continents. The Great Qin Empire officially moved its capital, taking with it most of its gatekeepers and clans to the new continents, and more human nations began to appear one after another. On the other hand, the Neverwinter Nights Continent, where the Dawn War took place, ended up becoming a huge garbage planet due to its overly harsh natural environment and lack of resources, and was infiltrated once again by the dark races that were not willing to lose. Hearing this, Qianye suddenly winced. He had never stepped out of the garbage dump since he could remember, but he had occasionally heard those strong adults bragging about how the dark races were, and it turned out that it wasn't a legend, but real darkness and bloodshed. However, Zhang Jing's expression and tone of voice when she spoke about this made him colder, it was a calmness that didn't care. Yes, in 1,200 years, the dark races and humans had never stopped fighting, and the battles took place on every continent, in every territory where the boundaries intersected. For a thousand years, hatred and blood roamed everywhere and nowhere. Among the many battlefields, the Realm of Eternal Night was not special, and was even one of the least valued among them. At the end of this lesson, Qianye felt a heavy weight in his heart, something more than he could say. The other children all felt pretty much the same. They were still young and didn't know that this was the heaviness of history. However, when they left the classroom, the children immediately ran to the training ground as if they were flying, and if they arrived late, they would have to be whipped three more times. Life went back to the original track. Time passed unnoticed, and in the blink of an eye it was half a year later. Qianye's physique had skyrocketed, growing a full ten centimeters taller in half a year. In addition to the harsh but scientific training, the training camp's food was also key. The food given to the children contained a large number of nutrient-rich ingredients, even some taken directly from the dark races. In addition, a small amount of special drugs were placed in the soup every day, which could rapidly stimulate the body's potential. Thousand Nights just felt that the days were repeating themselves day after day, as if nothing ever changed, except that the companions around him seemed to be decreasing. When Chiyo and the children around them all added up to less than fifty, they welcomed a new group of companions. The new kids ranged in age from old to young, and together there were more than fifty of them as well. The only thing they had in common with Chiyo was that their physical qualities were similar in every aspect. After another half a year, there were only fifty more partners left beside Chiyo. They then welcomed a new batch of partners. By this time, Thousand Nights learned that he and the hundred people around him were considered a company. Whenever the attrition reached half, new people would be replenished to make up a hundred people again. The principle of replenishment, on the other hand, was similar strength. When Qianye had been in the training camp for an entire year, on this day suddenly all the children were summoned and lined up on the school grounds, waiting for instructions. While waiting, Chiyo suddenly had a strong urge to look around, despite the fact that such a small action would likely summon a whipping. He vaguely and quickly glanced to the left and right, and then, taking advantage of the instructor's opening to turn his eyes away, he darted a glance back and immediately resumed his normal standing position. Such a simple little action, but it made his heart beat wildly. Because Qianye suddenly realized that of all the people around him, there were actually less than thirty faces he was familiar with! Most of the initial hundred children had already left this world forever. It was only at this time that Qianye realized the true meaning of the phrase "Welcome to Hell" at the mouth of the valley. Long Hai appeared in front of the children, his gaze coldly sweeping across, his one eye seemed to have become even more vicious. But all the children met Long Hai's gaze bravely, without fear. These children had long practiced a brave, or rather numb, heart during the year of hellish training. Long Hai was very satisfied and said, "Very good! After eliminating the dregs, the remaining ones are finally looking good. But ......" After a long pause, Long Hai revealed a meaningful smile, "The good news is that all of you are considered to have received initial recognition, and will be carefully cultivated, and will no longer be punished for trivial matters. Of course, the result of violating the ban is still the same. And the bad news is that you will find that the real training only begins now!" Long Hai walked back and forth in front of the group, his booming voice constantly bombarding the children's ears, "Over the next few years, you will truly begin to cultivate! Cultivating the Force! You will learn the most direct and effective killing techniques, and you will have the opportunity to kill each of the dark races with your own hands, but of course you will also have a high chance of being killed by them. So pray, little ones! Lastly, I can also tell you that of those standing here today, less than a quarter of the lucky ones will make it out of here alive." The last sentence was heavy, but Chiyo didn't take it to heart. He had learned not to fret over the uncontrollable. No matter how slim the chances were, as long as they existed, Thousand Nights would fight for them wholeheartedly. Without this resilience and focus, in the junkyard, the young and severely injured man would have long since turned into dirt. With a wave of Long Hai's hand, several big men came over and handed out a new textbook to each child. On the cover of the textbook were the three big words, "Soldiering and Firing Technique", with strong strokes, and one stroke was as sharp as a sword! When Qianye looked at it, he actually felt a tingling sensation. This was the cultivation technique! It was the key to separating mortals from those with abilities. Holding this book of military skills, Qianye suddenly had a feeling in his still young mind that his destiny would change because of this thin little book! The children were led into the classroom, and the one who stepped onto the podium and was responsible for teaching the Art of War was actually Zhang Jing. It seemed that underneath her beautiful appearance, she was hiding extraordinary strength. Qianye had actually noticed that Long Hai never leaned too close to Zhang Jing, this distance was around five meters, and now he suddenly understood that it was scorn. Zhang Jing pushed her glasses upwards, her bulging chest rising and falling violently with this tiny movement. "This Soldiering Technique is a technique specifically prepared for cannon fodder!" Hearing this comment from her, Qianye was very surprised. In this year, although the survival of the training camp was more brutal than a junkyard, it was usually considered a normal society. In the extremely limited interactions between the trainees, Qianye had learned some common sense about life and naturally saw that the training camp had invested considerable resources in them. The elimination rate of the Yellow Springs Training Camp was extremely high, and it was said that not one out of a hundred could walk out of here. Then the resources spent on the eliminated 99 were practically wasted. After spending so much on training, they were finally given a technique to use as cannon fodder? There were few who thought the same as Qianye. Zhang Jing took in all the changes in the children's expressions and immediately sneered, ''You guys don't think that cannon fodder is a derogatory term! In reality, there are as many people who want to be cannon fodder who don't have the qualifications to do so! Only when you guys survive and walk out of here in one piece will you be considered a qualified cannon fodder! Next, you need to cultivate a complete Force Tide within three months' time, and then ignite the first Force Node within a year! If you can't do it ......" Zhang Jing suddenly licked her lips and softly said, "That's punishable ......"
